It’s a first in Palm Beach County, maybe even in the entire country. The momentous accomplishment is the completion of Couture Lifestyle Home’s award-winning, green-certified luxury home in Old Palm Golf Club. Rarely, if ever, has a home this size been built to these standards. Located on a beautiful, one-acre lot in our Custom Estates neighborhood, the 7,467-air-conditioned-square-foot Couture home achieved its green certification through the prestigious National Association of Home Builders. Earning the certification is a rigorous process that examines everything from the home’s indoor air quality to the manufacturing of the materials. “We designed the home to take advantage of the north-south orientation,” said Todd Ullom, Couture Homes’ co-founder. “We relocated more than a dozen trees rather than simply clearing the lot.  We focused on making the home very energy efficient by including larger soffits to shield the glass from the sun, using double-pane low-e windows, and sealing the attic with foam insulation – all of which had a dramatic effect on the cooling load. It’s a balanced, tight, extremely efficient home. Plus, it’s really beautiful.” Amazingly, the home was built with world-class craftsmanship in only 165 days—three times faster than the norm. Of course, there were no compromises in quality because Couture follows a highly disciplined, quality-assurance program and works only with elite craftsmen.
