Old Palm celebrates the opening of Prima, a one-of-a-kind Italian courtyard villa.

January 25, 2013

Old Palm Golf Club recently added another dimension to its collection of spectacular homes with the opening of Prima, the newest model from Couture Homes. Nearly 200 Old Palm residents and guests toured the magnificent home during the debut party, which culminated with a fashion show launching the Resort 2013 Collection from Salvatore Ferragamo. “Prima is a unique residence,” says Connie McGinnis, Director of Sales at Old Palm, “and exemplifies the unparalleled selection of residences available in our community. The party not only celebrated Prima’s opening, but also made a statement about the Old Palm lifestyle.” “The response was overwhelming,” adds Todd Ullom, Couture Homes, Principal and Co-Founder. “Everyone had a positive reaction and understood what we were trying to achieve with this extraordinary home. We couldn’t have been happier with the comments.” The setting was ideal, as Prima is an Italian-style villa and Ferragamo is one of Italy’s most fabled design houses. Classically proportioned, Prima encompasses 7,800 square feet under air offering six bedrooms, six full and two half baths and a four car garage.  The home flows naturally from room to room and from indoors to outdoors. The majority of the home opens onto the center courtyard. The very heart and soul of the home, the courtyard is an oasis for entertaining and relaxing. At its center, a lap pool runs perpendicular to the swimming pool, with a whirlpool spa at the intersection. Several arbors lend dappled shade and texture. A fire pit separates the summer kitchen from an open patio, which is beautifully furnished to invite conversation. A private guest house overlooks the courtyard. “The courtyard just naturally draws you in,” says McGinnis, “since most doors pocket into the wall, you have uninterrupted views regardless of where you’re standing.” The openness seamlessly carries through Prima’s furnished interior, particularly in the main living area, which is one elongated space that encompasses the Valcucine-designed kitchen, a dining room that seats 12 people, a living room, and a family room. “We designed Prima with classical proportions on a more human scale, so people would walk in and instantly feel comfortable,” continues Ullom. “They may not consciously understand why it feels so good, they just know it does.” That same scale and sophistication extends into the bedrooms and baths. The Master Suite is a study in serenity, complemented by muted hues and an indulgent sunken tub in the Master Bath, which opens to a private outdoor courtyard with its own yoga pavilion. Even the landscaping on Prima’s generous one-acre home site in Old Palm’s Custom Estates reflects Couture’s attention to detail. For instance, many of the trees are individually lighted, giving them a sculptural quality at night. It’s an atmosphere perfectly suited for entertaining, which made the Ferragamo fashion show at Prima even more dramatic and memorable. The models wore the Resort 2013 Collection designed by Massimiliano Giornetti, Creative Director for Ferragamo, and used the perimeter of the swimming pools as their catwalk. The collection had only been seen once before—at an exclusive show in Paris at the Louvre. The Resort 2013 Collection combines a warm palette of delicate neutral hues with cooler tones. Pieces include an oversized knit that interweaves nappa and snakeskin, ultra-flat soft suede boots featuring studded embroidery, 3-D crochet dresses and ultra-soft leather T-shirts. The collection is exclusive to specialty Ferragamo boutiques including The Gardens Mall location, just a few miles from Old Palm. Old Palm is exceptional on so many levels, and that passion for excellence carries into the Club, a welcome blend of tradition and contemporary luxuries that feels like home. Designed to mirror the intimate scale of a Palm Beach estate, the Mediterranean-style Club encourages members to mingle in its casual, pleasantly understated atmosphere. Dining in the Club’s four magnificent venues is as exquisite as it is friendly. The sense of comfort and conviviality just naturally extends into the Spa, Fitness Center and the Casitas adjacent to the Club where members can house their guests in sumptuously appointed suites. Old Palm Golf Club offers new estate homes ranging in price from $1.2 million to $12 million. It is ideally located in the heart of Palm Beach Gardens with close proximity to a wealth of luxuries and conveniences, including both Palm Beach International Airport and North County General Aviation Airport, which accommodates private aircraft. Old Palm is being developed by Clarion Partners, a leading real estate investment firm with over $25 billion in assets under management.
