Three of the most successful professional golfers on the PGA and European Tours—Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel and Lee Westwood—have a lot in common. For starters, they all live in Old Palm Golf Club, the premier private Club community in the Palm Beaches. But the similarities don’t end there for this highly successful trio of professional golfers. They are also exceptionally close with regard to their World Ranking in golf. The three are clustered within a few spots. Oosthuizen is ranked 10th, Westwood 12th, and Schwartzel 13th. The World Golf rankings change every Monday following the previous week’s tournaments from around the world. Ranking points are awarded according to the players’ finishing positions and are generally related to the strength of the field. Although points for each player are accumulated over a two-year “rolling” period, finishes in recent tournaments are emphasized. Despite the ranking’s volatility, the three golfers have remained remarkably close—professionally, socially and as residents of Old Palm Golf Club.
