Fourth of July began with a bang at Old Palm Golf Club and the festivities continued well into the night. To kick off the Clubâs annual Firecracker Open golf tournament, recent Julliard graduate Jessica Taylor sang the national anthem. It was an inspiring performance, and especially patriotic as Miss Taylor is engaged to a recent West Point graduate. Then, the golfers teed off on Old Palmâs spectacular Raymond Floyd-designed golf course. Competition was fierce during the 9-hole Firecracker Open, with a net 32 taking the low score. Following the tournament, a fun-filled barbecue dinner was served at the Club, where the tables were decorated in red, white and blue. There were traditional Fourth of July favorites such as hamburgers (made with Kobe beef) and kosher hot dogs, and other wonderful offerings, including prime steaks, lobster tails and grilled tuna. More than 80 Old Palm residents and guests attended the event, all of them decked out in their finest red, white and blue attire. Later, the children enjoyed bungee jumping on the Clubâs event lawn while the families mingled. Click here for event photos.
