The season officially started at Old Palm Golf Club with several spectacular opening weekend events that will long be remembered. On Friday night, a dinner dance was held at the Club with more than 160 members and guests in attendance. They enjoyed the festivities, rekindled friendships and made plans for the remainder of the season. The event started in the Club with passed hors dâoeuvres and then moved to the event lawn under an elegant tent illuminated by chandeliers. The tables were decorated in Old Palmâs traditional green and gold, the buffet was phenomenal as usual, and our members danced well into the evening. The event ended with a burst of pyrotechnics as colorful fireworks lit up the sky. The festivities continued into Saturday, the first day of Old Palmâs opening weekend golf tournament. It was a scramble format, where couples played with each other. Prizes were awarded for closest to the pin and long drive, and there were plenty of raffle winners. The format changed on Sunday to a shamble, where golfers play their own balls after taking the best drive in the group. The weather was in the 80s and it couldnât have been more beautiful for the traditional opening weekend tournament that welcomes members back to Old Palm.
