Demand is high for Old Palm’s one-acre home sites

November 08, 2013

Shortly after becoming available, eight new one-acre home sites in Old Palm Golf Club have been reserved by homebuyers and builders. Interest has been exceptionally high because home sites of this size are a rarity, especially within such a luxurious and private Club community located in the Palm Beaches. However, in Old Palm Golf Club’s elegant Custom Estates neighborhood, nearly every home site is one acre. “The key to a home site of this magnitude is that it allows buyers to build a dream home of 7,000 to 20,000 square feet,” says Connie McGinnis, Director of Sales at Old Palm. “For added variety, the home sites overlook Old Palm’s extraordinary Raymond Floyd-designed golf course or the natural preserves that beautifully buffer the neighborhood.” Dreamstar Custom Homes is already planning custom homes on each of two one-acre home sites on Tillinghast Circle. One of them is bordered by a stand of pines and palms that borders the golf course’s challenging 13th hole. The other home site backs up to a heavily wooded nature preserve, ensuring the ultimate in privacy. Another Dreamstar home currently under construction on a one-acre home site was chosen to be the “Build for the Cure Show” home, funds will be raised for the South Florida affiliate of the Susan B. Komen for the Cure Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer. The nearly 10,000-square-foot home, named Palais de Tere or Palace of Tere (the owner), features five bedrooms, seven full baths, one half bath, a library, covered loggia and porte cochere. Of course, Dreamstar is one of a few of South Florida’s most prestigious builders that have seized the opportunity to create a dream home on a one-acre home site in the Custom Estates. Couture Homes’ magnificent 7,317-square-foot Avanti recently sold within the same neighborhood and Prima, the builder’s 7,450-square-foot Italian-style villa, is available for $5.8 million. “Builders understand the rarity of these one-acre home sites,” explains McGinnis, “and how the generous size liberates the design. Whatever the homeowner has in mind, no matter how imaginative or extravagant, it can be accomplished.” Hasey Construction recently finished a custom residence for former world number one golfer Lee Westwood and his family in the Custom Estates. The home is designed for entertaining and features unique characteristics. It’s only fitting that the home overlooks Old Palm’s golf course. Similarly, Charl Schwartzel, 2011 Masters Champion and winner of last month’s Nanshan China Masters, also bought a one-acre home site in the Custom Estates and is currently finalizing his new home plan. Fellow South African golfer Louis Oosthuizen, winner of the 2010 British Open, has started construction on a new custom home. It’s no wonder—the one-acre home site frees him to create a one-of-a-kind residence that perfectly reflects his lifestyle. Old Palm is exceptional on so many levels, and that passion for excellence carries into the Club, a welcome blend of tradition and contemporary luxuries that feels like home. Designed to mirror the intimate scale of a Palm Beach estate, the Mediterranean-style Club encourages members to mingle in its casual, pleasantly understated atmosphere. Dining in the Club’s four magnificent venues is as exquisite as it is friendly. The sense of comfort and conviviality just naturally extends into the Spa, Fitness Center and the Casitas, adjacent to the Club where members can house their guests in sumptuously appointed suites.
