The Honda Classic has become a favorite tournament for Old Palm members and residents Charl Schwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen and Lee Westwood. After all, during the day they can compete just down the street at PGA National Resort & Spa and then spend evenings with their families at Old Palm. Itâs couldnât be more convenient or restful for them. All three players have committed to the 2014 Honda Classic, which runs the week of February 24 through March 2. In addition to 2011 Masters Champion Schwartzel, 2010 British Open Champion Oosthuizen, and former World #1 ranked golfer Westwood, who finished in the Top 10 at last yearâs Honda Classic, many of the worldâs top players will be teeing it up, vying for their share of the $6-million purse and 500 FedEx Cup points. You can expect to see defending champion Michael Thompson, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott and dozens of other top golfers. Many of them will also be playing in Pro-Ams during the week with past and present members of the Miami Dolphins. A portion of the proceeds from the tournament is donated to charitable organizations throughout the community, especially ones that aid children in need.
