With golf season in full swing, Old Palm Golf Club looks even more alluring

February 22, 2016

Honda 150x150 Golf has long been synonymous with Old Palm Golf Club and the connection is particularly top of mind this week, with the 2016 Honda Classic being played just down the road. The tournament will be held at nearby PGA National Resort & Spa. Two residents and members of Old Palm 2011 Masters champion Charl Schwartzel and 2010 British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen have played in the Honda Classic previously. Both golfers benefited from its proximity to Old Palm, as they could wake up in their own beds each day, mentally sharp and be at the tournament within minutes from their home in Old Palm. The legendary Raymond Floyd, who also lives at Old Palm and serves as Honorary Club Chairman, designed the spectacular course at Old Palm. It reflects Floyd’s love of the game, as it winds through one of the most visually stunning natural landscapes in the Palm Beaches. The front nine is routed through sweeping savannahs and wetlands while the back nine is carved through indigenous palm and pine trees. There is even a 19th hole, a devilish Par 3 bye hole near the Club, where players can settle friendly wagers. Perhaps best of all, Old Palm’s No Tee Time policy allows members to play whenever they wish, without having to schedule their rounds in advance. Another major draw for pros and members alike is the Golf Studio at Old Palm, a remarkable practice facility separated from the course for privacy. It offers a double-ended driving range, a short-game area, and three regulation practice holes – a par 3, 4, and 5 – on which golfers can replicate every shot and angle they encounter on the par-72 course. Inside the covered hitting bay, Old Palm’s instructors use advanced technologies such as Trackman Combine and the V1 Swing Analysis System to improve every aspect of the players’ games. There are just as many options with regard to the four neighborhoods in Old Palm. There is the Golf Estates, a neighborhood that is nearly sold out. However, one remaining model is close to being finished—Courchene’s lovely Royal Poinciana. This 4,022-square-feet-under-air residence is serenely situated on a preserve home site for the ultimate in privacy. It features a highly coveted Great Room design with four bedrooms, five full and one half bath. The Royal Poinciana is available for $1,825,000. The Isle Estates is renowned for its delightful coastal architecture and homes beautifully situated on third-acre home sites. Several models are now open for tours or under construction, with the 5,275-square-feet-under-air Bonair by Hasey Construction ready for move in. The residence features four bedrooms, five full and two half baths, and is priced at $3,350,000 furnished. In the Grand Estates, residences measure between 4,800 and 7,000 square feet and perch on lushly landscaped half-acre home sites, offering even more outdoor space to capture the Florida lifestyle. Numerous models are currently under construction, but only one—the Viceroy—is finished and furnished. Built by Courchene Development Corporation, this 5,341-square-feet-under-air home has four bedrooms, four full and two half baths. It is priced furnished for $4,085,000. Similarly, only one new model is available in the Custom Estates, where residences range in size from 7,000 to well over 15,000 square feet and sit on full, one-acre home sites. Here, the largest residence presently under construction in Old Palm, the 9,187-square-feet-under-air Casa Contempo by Couture Lifestyle Homes is close to being finished. The home’s grandeur comes alive when seeing in person, and the sweeping view of the golf course from the second story is particularly memorable. The Casa Contempo is priced starting at $7,500,000.
