Competition was fierce at the latest Menâs Member-Guest Invitational at Old Palm Golf Club, but youâd never know it because everyone was having so much fun. The festivities began with a day of practice rounds, cocktails and hors dâ oeuvres, and a spectacular stag dinner. The atmosphere was light and lively, as nearly 100 competitors mingled and welcomed guests, many of them from other clubs in the Palm Beaches. Over the next two days, it was nonstop action. Trick shot artist Dan Boever dazzled the crowd, juicy steaks sizzled on the grill, tropical smoothies were whipped up in blenders and, of course, a lot of 9-hole matches were played on Old Palmâs Raymond Floyd-designed golf course. One of the members even aced the 15th hole. The competition came to a close on Saturday evening with a lavish awards dinner, where the winners in each flight were given beautiful Waterford Crystal trophies. The top prize was awarded to a team of retired military colonels, Old Palm member Colonel Underwood and his guest, Colonel Schwanda.
