The opening of the Olympics is always memorable, but this summer it was especially unforgettable for the members of Old Palm that viewed the ceremony in the Club. As the evening’s events unfolded in high definition on the Big Screen, our chefs put on an award-worthy performance in the Grille Room. Our members enjoyed an array of appetizers such as Fried Oysters with Cajun Remoulade and succulent Pecan-Crusted Sea Scallops, while the opening ceremony began in earnest. A magnificent selection of entrées followed, including Grilled Wagyu Filets, Pan-Seared Veal Chops, and Rock Shrimp and Three-Cheese Ravioli. If the menu had been officially judged, it would have received the “Gold Medal”. The opening of the Olympics was incredibly whimsical, thanks to appearances by the rubber-faced comedian “Mr. Bean” and 86-year-old Queen Elizabeth taking part in a video skit with Daniel Craig, aka James Bond. The playfulness on screen kept the mood in the Club light and lively, and the conversations flowing. Our members loved sharing every Olympic moment, and as always the camaraderie continued long after the event.
