If the re-opening of the Golf Studio is any indication, members will have plenty to celebrate when Old Palmâs golf course soon re-opens with its new TifEagle Bermuda grass greens. Members and guests had the chance to try out the greens while playing the Golf Studioâs three practice holes during a recent âSips, Six and Supperâ event. The greens earned rave reviews. For one, theyâre naturally faster than the former paspalum greens and, putts stroked on TifEagle roll much truer. Itâs a winning combination that makes Old Palmâs Raymond Floyd-designed golf course more spectacular than ever. âSips, Six and Supperâ began with cocktails, followed by a six-hole shamble format golf outing. Shamble is much like a scramble, except the golfers play out their own balls after taking the best drive. To keep the contest light and lively, there were special contests and a beverage cart made the rounds as the golfers played the three practice holes twice. The event closed with a hearty family-style supper and lots of kudos to Golf Course Superintendent Lee Bladen, who has kept the growing in of the new TifEagle greens right on schedule.
