One-acre home sites are a rarity, especially in private Club communities in the Palm Beaches. But in Old Palm Golf Club’s elegant Custom Estates neighborhood, all of the home sites are one acre, and several of these enviably sized lots are still available. Some of them back up to nature preserves, which ensure privacy, while others overlook Old Palm’s spectacular Raymond Floyd-designed golf course. “Old Palm is in the unique position of offering one-acre estate home sites,” says Connie McGinnis, Director of Sales at Old Palm. “A home site of that size is an extraordinarily rare luxury that allows buyers to build the 7,000 to 20,000-square-foot home of their dreams.” Recently, 2011 Masters Champion Charl Schwartzel, who plays on both the European Tour and PGA Tour, purchased a one-acre home site in the Custom Estates, and he’s currently finalizing the plans for his new home. Fellow professional golfer Lee Westwood, who is currently fourth in the World Golf Rankings, also purchased in Old Palm’s Custom Estates, choosing a home that’s near completion. Hasey Construction is customizing the residence to suit the Westwood family, which includes Lee’s wife, Laurae, and their two young children. The home is designed for entertaining and features unique characteristics such as a fire pit within the swimming pool. It’s fitting that the home overlooks the 14th hole of the Old Palm golf course. There are also models on one-acre home sites in the Custom Estates that are finished and ready for move in. Like the Westwood estate, the Mediterranean-style Bella Vita also overlooks the 14th hole. The 9,845-square-foot home features six bedrooms, a private home theater, home office covered with whitewashed pecky cypress, twin grand staircases with Old World wrought-iron balustrades in the foyer, and lustrous wooden coffered ceilings and accents. The home’s ultimate indulgence may well be the William Ohs-designed handcrafted kitchen, which makes a statement of distinct luxury. The Bella Vita is priced at $6.8 million. Couture Homes has nearly completed its Prima model on a one-acre home site in the Custom Estates. A classic Italian courtyard villa with a storied history, Prima is a place where art and architecture come together, where classic proportions are respected, and where indoor & outdoor living are one. The kitchen is designed by Valcucine—the world leader in intelligent ergonomic kitchens. The owner’s retreat is magnificent and secluded, offering tranquility with a five-star spa-like experience and its own outdoor yoga pavilion.  The courtyard is the heart and soul of the home and provides an oasis for dining, entertaining and relaxation. Prima is available in December 2012 for $5.8 million.
