Old Palm Golf Club resident and member Charl Schwartzel dominated the field in the recent Thailand Golf Championship, winning by a record-setting 11 shots. Schwartzel held an impressive five-stroke lead going into the final round, and then fired a blistering 65 to capture the title at 25 under par. It was the South Africanâs first victory since the 2011 Masters. Schwartzelâs nearest rival was Bubba Watson, the 2012 Masters champion.
âI played some solid golf. Iâm very happy,â said Schwartzel. âThe pristine golf course and practice facility at Old Palm helped prepare me for the variety of shots and situations I faced over the course of the tournament.â
âItâs fantastic to see the hard work Charl puts in at Old Palm translate into a spectacular win against the worldâs elite players,â says Darlene Impellittiere, General Manager of Old Palm Golf Club. âOur exceptional golf facilities and world-class amenities create the ultimate location for PGA Tour players and avid golfers of all skill levels to live, play and practice.â
