Itâs a jungle out there, but youâd never know it living at Old Palm. Recently, however, things did get a little wild for the ladies participating in our safari-themed Member-Guest Invitational. The two-day event was a roaring success. It started with a spectacular lunch at the Club, followed by Director of Golf Bud Taylor (wearing an authentic pith helmet) driving the ladies to the Golf Studio in a Land Rover Defender, the kind used on African safaris. Then, after playing 18 holes, the ladies were entertained by a fire juggler and enjoyed dinner in a safari-style tent decorated with a huge tapestry of the African savannah. The fun continued the next day, the lionâs share of which was spent playing another round of golf on Old Palmâs Raymond Floyd-designed golf course, which is in pristine tournament condition. The safari theme was evident throughout, including the Safari pith helmets that marked the teeing areas. Even the trophies, and gifts carried out the theme; beautiful Waterford Crystal Evolution series vases, were camel and cream colored Crystal resembling the Leopard print and fun totes of black and white Zebra print with black faux fur were the perfect gift.
