Old Palm resident and 2011 Masters champion Charl Schwartzel successfully defended his Alfred Dunhill Championship title in a brilliant start to December. His convincing four-shot victory was the third time he has won the tournament, which is played in South Africa.
âThis tournament has been very good to me,â said Schwartzel, who hails from South Africa. âIâve had lots of seconds here as well. Probably for the rest of my golfing career this will always be a special one.â
The Alfred Dunhill Championship was Schwarzelâs ninth win on the European Tour, vaulting him back into the Top 20 in the world rankings. The tournament was played at Leopard Creek Golf Club near Kruger National Park, and Schwartzel was given a fitting championship trophyâa statue of a reclining leopard on a wooden base.
