To keep juniors interested in golf, it has to be entertaining. To that end, Old Palm is offering several fun ways for juniors to enjoy the game when they’re out of school over the holidays. On December 26, Old Palm will hold the annual Adult/Child Fishing Derby, followed by nine or 18 holes of golf. Juniors can try their luck fishing in the lakes bordering the practice holes in the Golf Studio, and then head out to Old Palm’s spectacular Raymond Floyd-designed golf course to play. Over the years, the event has been well attended because the fun of fishing carries over into an enjoyable afternoon of golf. December 26 also marks the beginning of Old Palm’s three-day golf camp for juniors. To keep the instruction entertaining and pressure free, the kids will be grouped according to age. It’s sure to be a blast, as the kids will practice the fundamentals of golf with a major emphasis on fun. They will learn about swing techniques, the short game, putting, proper etiquette and the basic rules of golf. Once the kids develop their skills, they are welcome to play in our Junior Club Championship and compete against juniors in neighboring clubs.
