Net Jets, the company that invented fractional aircraft ownership, recently reserved the Old Palm Golf Course for a private tournament. The event came off with flying colors, starting with an exhibition by some of the biggest names on the PGA and European Tours. Bud Taylor, Old Palm Director of Golf, emceed the exhibition as the 90 or so players in attendance looked on. Old Palm resident and member Lee Westwood demonstrated the keys to precise ball striking. 2013 PGA Champion Jason Dufner talked about how he stayed focused on the back nine to win his first major. Dustin Johnson, who captured this year’s WGC-HSBC Champions tournament, offered tips on how to hit a long high drive. The ever-consistent Jeff Overton elaborated on his playing strategies. Armed with all that invaluable knowledge, the players then teed off on Old Palm’s spectacular Raymond Floyd-designed golf course for a highly enjoyable round of golf. As a bonus, the pros—Westwood, Dufner, Johnson and Overton—joined them, going from foursome to foursome, so everyone got the thrill of playing with touring pros. Afterwards, dinner was held at Old Palm’s Golf Studio, one of the most outstanding practice facilities in South Florida.
