An enthusiastic group of Old Palm residents recently spent the evening at the nearby Kravis Center, enjoying dinner and the beloved comic opera âThe Barber of Seville.â It was a sell-out and no wonder. The opera by Gioachino Rossini premiered in 1816 and nearly 200 years later it remains one of the worldâs most famous musical masterpieces. Itâs the tale of the flamboyant barber Figaro, who helps a young woman outwit elderly Don Bartolo, who is after her affections and money. One of the highlights was the âFigaroâ aria, which is still a showstopper. As always with outings beyond the gates of Old Palm, transportation was provided. All the residents had to do was sit back, relax and enjoy a magnificent night at the opera.
