On April 10, Old Palm Golf Club will host a second fundraising event for the Els for Autism Foundation. The charity was conceived in 2009 after the son of professional golfer Ernie Els and his wife Liezl was diagnosed with autism. The event will be held from 6-9pm on the event lawn adjacent to the Club, where nine food and drink stations will be set up. Each station will feature a dish donated by a local restaurant and a craft beer from Tequesta Brewing Company that makes for a perfect pairing. One of the highlights will be “Big Easy’s Blue Brew,” which is named for Els, who’s nicknamed “Big Easy” because of his imposing 6’3’’ height and fluid golf swing. The beer is a Belgian farmhouse ale made with fresh organic blueberries. Proceeds from the charitable event’s admission and silent auction will help fund The Els Center of Excellence, a complex that will serve families with autistic children. Scheduled to open next year, the center will offer global E-learning, on-site education, a research program, medical services, and job and independent living training for adults with autism. Autism strikes one in 88 children. To join the fight against autism by attending the event, go to www.ElsForAutism/OldPalm
