Celebrating the Fourth of July is one of the most anticipated summer events at Old Palm Golf Club, and this yearâs festivities were phenomenal as usual. They began with a bang and continued well into the night. To kick off the celebration, we held our annual Firecracker Open on Old Palmâs spectacular Raymond Floyd-designed golf course. Competition was fierce during the tournament, which followed a shamble format, in which golfers play their own balls after taking the best drive in the group. It was a clear day and not too hot when the players teed off at 9AM, so it couldnât have been more beautiful. Afterwards, the festivities continued for the golfers with an awards ceremony over lunch. Later in the day, a New England Clam Bake was held at the Club, where the tables were decorated in red, white and blue. The menu was inspiring and featured crab cakes, shrimp cocktail, Maine lobsters, and Littleneck clams. There were also traditional Fourth of July favorites such as hamburgers, hot dogs, St. Louis ribs and all the fixings. As expected, there was a great turnout of Old Palm residents and guests, all of them decked out in their finest red, white and blue attire.
