October is just around the corner and that means Oktoberfest is close behind. This yearâs annual Oktoberfest of the Palm Beaches (now in its 41st year) runs over two weekends: October 10-12 and 17-19. So put on your leiderhosen and come hungry because this is one of the countryâs largest and most entertaining Oktoberfest celebrations. You can expect to find Bavarian favorites like sauerbraten, schnitzel and goulash, with all sorts of accompaniments, including sauerkraut, salty pretzels and giant pickles. Of course, nothing goes better with these traditional dishes than German beer, and there will be plenty of choices such as original Hofbräu Oktoberfest, Hofbräu Dunkel and Hofbräu Weizen. The entertainment will be just as distinct and varied. After the traditional parade of flags, you can expect to see folk dancing, choral singing, sing-alongs and two German bands that have come over just for the occasion. Sound like fun? Then head for the American German Club pavilion one weekend this October. 5111 Lantana Road. www.americangermanclub.org
