The Society of Four Arts in Palm Beach will soon begin telecasting its Bolshoi Ballet series, and it’s the next best thing to watching the performances live. To enhance the telecasts, each production will also feature behind-the-scenes programming that includes interviews with the cast and crew. Tickets for the first performance go on sale Wednesday, October 8. The opening show is Cesare Pugni’s “Pharoah’s Daughter,” a lavish production loosely based on Théophile Gauthier’s novel “Le Roman de la Momie.” This grand 19th-century Orientalist fantasy is one of the most remarkable productions in the Bolshoi’s repertoire, as it features exotic settings, impressive parades, spectacular variations and crowd scenes. Bolshoi principals Svetlana Zakharova, Nina Kaptsova and Ruslan Skvortsov perform the main roles. The Bolshoi Theatre commissioned French choreographer Pierre Lacotte to breathe new life into this forgotten masterpiece and he succeeded brilliantly. “Pharoah’s Daughter” will be telecast on Sunday, November 23 at 2 pm.
