In honor of its 10th anniversary and to mark the much-anticipated beginning of the season, Old Palm Golf Club recently held a spectacular Opening Weekend celebration. Old Palmâs elegant Club and Raymond Floyd-designed golf course hosted most of the festivities, but the mood was light-hearted and fun-filled throughout the community. Golf played prominently during the day, while lively parties continued through the evening. Champagne and conversation flowed freely as Old Palmâs residents happily caught up with each other and discussed how they spent their summers. The energy and enthusiasm were palpable, in part because everyone in attendance knew that this was just the start of the seasonâs many upcoming events. âOur members love to have a good time and socialize,â says Darlene Impellittiere, General Manager. âEven though this is an exclusive private community, itâs full of life and energy. Old Palmâs social calendar is filled with exciting events and activities that bring our members together, and their enthusiasm carries over into every aspect of Club life.â This yearâs Opening Weekend festivities began with a hearty Saturday morning buffet breakfast, the perfect prelude to the scramble-format tournament that followed on Old Palmâs Raymond Floyd-designed golf course. As always, competition was fierce, yet friendly. The course was in tournament-ready shape, as the players competed in team and individual categories ranging from low-net score to closest to the pin. During the awards luncheon afterwards, the winners were gracious and there were plenty of kudos and kidding to go around. âThis tournament always draws a big crowd because some of our members have been away for the summer and it gives them a chance to get together again,â explains Bud Taylor, Director of Golf. âWhile winners eventually emerge, this tournament is more social than competitive, and itâs always great fun.â Later that evening, Old Palm members convened in the Club to enjoy cocktails, a raw bar filled with fresh succulent seafood and passed hors dâoeuvres. It was a grand time, capped by an elegant dinner dance and followed by an array of freshly baked desserts served on the Event Lawn. Then, a riot of brightly colored fireworks lit up the sky â the perfect exclamation point to the evening. As the sun came up, the festivities continued. Another scramble-format tournament was held and more prizes were awarded. Later in the day, the Club hosted a casual buffet dinner for the whole family. Finally, Old Palmâs Opening Weekend came to a close, but it was just the beginning of an entire new season of events. âItâs no wonder Old Palm is known as the premier private Club community in the Palm Beaches,â says Connie McGinnis, Director of Sales, who has been at Old Palm since its inception. âWhen our sales team shows potential homebuyers around the community and they see the lifestyle, Old Palm sells itself. Itâs truly irresistible.â
