Westwood seals victory in Thailand Golf Championship
December 15, 2014
Old Palm Golf Club resident and member Lee Westwood recently captured the prestigious 2014 Thailand Golf Championship after reeling off seven birdies in the last 10 holes of the final round. This was Westwoodâs 41st victory worldwide and his second Thailand Golf Championship, which was held on Bangkokâs demanding Amata Spring Country Club. Shortly after winning, the ever-jovial Westwood said: âItâs been a good last day of school,â a reference to the tournament being his last of the 2014 season. Despite the long travel time from Old Palm and Westwoodâs former home in England, he has always played well in Asia. Earlier this year, Westwood dominated the Malaysian Open, winning by seven shots. The Thailand Golf Championship was his 14th win in Asia.  âItâs nice to finish with a win and go into Christmas and start the New Year with confidence and a bit of momentum,â said Westwood.
