With the Honda Classic being held just down the road from Old Palm Golf Club, our members had an exclusive chance to play with some of the pros while they were in town. Because it was such a popular and much-anticipated opportunity, a drawing was held to select foursomes of members that would play with the professionals in teams of five. Many of the pros that didnât make the cut in the Honda Classic were happy to stick around on Saturday and play 18 holes with our members in Old Palmâs Post-Cut Pro-Am. After all, who wouldnât want to play on Old Palmâs spectacular Raymond Floyd-designed golf course? Although it poured in the afternoon, Old Palmâs tournament was held in the morning, allowing for the full 18 holes to be played. Some of the most popular and well-known pro golfers played the Old Palm Golf Club course, a testament to the staff at the Honda Classic. They worked diligently and with very little notice to arrange for 19 high-profile PGA Tour golfers that missed the Honda Classic cut to come to Old Palm. There was Florida resident and 13-time PGA Tour winner Mark Calcavecchia, Swedenâs Jesper Parnevik, Mark Hubbard, Ryan Amour, Bo Van Pelt, Tim Herron, Glen Day, Marc Turnesa, Kevin Tway, Mathis Gronberg, Brett Wetterich, Richard S. Johnson, Brett Quigley, Tony Finau, Max Homa, Billy Hurley, Kevin Foley, Kris Blanks and David Lipsky. Ryan Armour, who has placed second in several tournaments since joining the PGA Tour in 2003, helped a foursome of Old Palm members capture the Honda Post-Cut Pro-Am. They shot a 55 in the Best Ball format, capping a wonderful experience at Old Palm. Mark Hubbardâs team finished one stroke back and took second place. Jeff Curlâs team finished in third, two strokes back.
