A Memorial Day to Remember

Screen shot 2015 05 26 at 10.05.52 am 150x150 Memorial Day is always a big event at Old Palm Golf Club. It’s a day of remembrance to honor the men and women who sacrificed their lives while serving in the U.S. military. It’s also a day that traditionally kicks off the summer, and to celebrate Old Palm held a fun-filled golf tournament followed by a hearty BBQ dinner. The tournament was held on Old Palm’s spectacular Raymond Floyd-designed golf course. The foursomes of members and guests competed in the shamble format, in which golfers play their own balls after taking the best drive in the group. Players teed off in the morning, and everyone had a great time although the competition was fierce. The festivities continued with an awards ceremony and a traditional barbecue dinner at the Club. Dishes ranged from Buttermilk Herb-Fried Chicken to Honey Chipolte BBQ Ribs. Seafood lovers enjoyed entrées that included Blackened Mahi with Tropical Fruit Salad and Stone Crab Macaroni and Cheese.  To add to the festivities, the kids enjoyed their own entertainment bungee jumping on the event lawn.  It was definitely a day to remember.
