Old Palm Golf Club is a wonderland of indigenous tropical vegetation and the landscaping is extraordinarily serene. To find a similar setting beyond the gates is no small task, however, the Four Arts Botanical Gardens in Palm Beach may be just as inspiring. The botanical gardens were originally designed in 1938 to display the diversity of tropical plants that could thrive in South Florida’s climate. The Garden Club of Palm Beach has maintained them ever since, and visitors often come just to unwind in the seven different gardens. You are welcome to join them any day of the week (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). While meandering along the winding paths, you might enjoy the memorial Chinese garden, the lush jungle garden and the fragrant rose garden. Other gardens were planted around architectural focal points. Over the years, the original design has been restored, more comfortable seating has been added, and the walkways have been widened. Come see for yourself. The Society of the Four Arts is located at 2 Four Arts Plaza in Palm Beach. For more information, click on www.fourarts.org
