Old Palm Golf Club residents and members Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen will be competing in this weekâs PGA Championship at Whistling Straits in Sheboygan, WI. This will be the third time that the Pete Dye-designed course has hosted the PGA Championship.
Whistling Straits is a links-style course, and Oosthuizen and Schwartzel look forward to the challenge. Oosthuizen and Schwartzel have both won majorsâthe 2010 British Open and the 2011 Masters, respectively. In addition, Oosthuizen nearly won this yearâs British Open, finishing tied for second at the Old Course in St. Andrews, the worldâs most famous links course.
After that tournament, Schwartzel sent out a congratulatory tweet about fellow South African Oosthuizen, âWell done to my friend. Amazing play. Keep playing like that and he will win many majors thatâs for sure.â
Perhaps the 2015 PGA Championship will be the one for Oosthuizen or Schwartzel.
