Let’s talk books

Other venues are also available nearby, where ladies—and gentlemen—can talk about their favorite bestsellers. For instance, there is The Society of Four Arts in downtown Palm Beach, which hosts discussion groups throughout the season at its Gioconda and Joseph King Library, located at 2 Four Arts Plaza. It doesn’t cost a thing and reservations aren’t required. Just show up with an understanding of the topic and a willingness to engage in enlightening conversation with other bibliophiles. So why not attend the upcoming discussions on these books: “The White Nile” by Alan Moorehead. A seminal work in tales of discovery and escapade, this book is filled with incredible historical detail and compelling stories of heroism and adventure by the likes of Stanley and Livingstone. (February 2, 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. and February 3 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.). “George Marshall: A Biography” by Debi and Iwin Unger. Based on exhaustive research and filled with rich detail, this novel is considered a definitive work on one of the most influential figures in American history—the general who ran the U.S. campaign during World War II and the Secretary of State who oversaw the successful rebuilding of postwar Europe. (February 16, 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. and February 17 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.).
