Wednesday is Pub Night in the Club at Old Palm, and to add to the festivities Terlato Wines and Southern Wines & Spirits recently held a wine tasting for Old Palmâs members and guests. The theme was Old World Wines versus New World Wines.
Six fine wineries were represented, including Chapoutier, Chimney Rock, Gaja, Chateau de Meursault, Rochioli and Sanford. Each winery is known for certain iconic wines.
For instance, Chimney Rock produces some of the worldâs most elegant cabernet sauvignon, a flagship wine with a silky texture and lush black cherry and cassis flavors. Gaja winery is located in northwestern Italy and produces wines that include a complex barbaresco and a lively and citrusy RossJ-Bass named for the founderâs daughter. Then, there is Château de Mersault, whose magnificent cellars were built between the 12
th and 16
th centuries and are still used today for wines such as its fruit-forward pommard.
Every Pub Night at Old Palm offers a good reason to celebrate, and this one toasted the occasion by offering a spectacular selection of Old World and New World wines.
