We know our summer season is over because the kids are back in school and Labor Day has come and gone. If only we could say the same for the overly warm days and nights! While many in South Florida spend several months away, a large part of the population remains throughout the year. These brave souls are rewarded with a charming, if not short, pre-Season
otherwise known as October.
Old Palm Golf Club year-round residents recently enjoyed Labor Day Weekend festivities that included a Sunday evening barbeque and entertainment for all ages. Over 160 Club family members enjoyed a delicious âBBQ grillâ buffet, music and family entertainment. The intrepid could try their hand at bungee jumping or climbing the inflatable rock wall slide. Bounce house fun, fabulous food and the Good Humor man rounded out a great Club social event.
A Labor Day golf tournament with a 9 a.m. shotgun start followed on Monday. The four-person scramble was a nice way for Old Palm Golf Club friends and neighbors to celebrate their long holiday weekend with each other, and one member even celebrated his first hole-in-one! The Labor Day Barbecue Lunch was magnificent and featured a mouthwatering menu with something for everyone â chicken, ribs, brisket, seafood, burgers, dogs, brats, grilled salmon and steak plus all the fixings, including an ice cream sundae bar.
On Wednesday evening, September 28, year-round residents will gather to celebrate each other with cocktails and hors dâ oeuvres at the Clubâs End of Summer Rounder Party. This very special Pub Night event in honor of all Old Palm Golf Club âRoundersâ promises to be a rousing good time, featuring Rounder pride tee shirts and passed Limoncello mini martinis!
Ahh, October looms. The promise of cooler mornings on the links and an ever-so-brief window of calm, before holidays and event-filled social calendars, beckons us to sit quietly â for a moment.
