Net Jets holds tournament at Old Palm

Net Jets, the company that invented fractional aircraft ownership, recently reserved the Old Palm Golf Course for a private tournament. The event came off with flying colors, starting with an exhibition by some of the biggest names on the PGA and European Tours Bud Taylor, Old Palm Director of Golf, emceed the exhibition as the 90 or so players in attendance looked on. Old Palm resident and member Lee Westwood demonstrated the keys to precise ball striking. 2013 PGA Champion Jason Dufner talked about how he stayed focused on the back nine to win his first major. Dustin Johnson, who captured this yearâs WGC-HSBC Champions tournament, offered tips on how to hit a long high drive. Juniors learn golf is fun and challenging

During the winter break from school, many of the junior golfers at Old Palm Golf Club participated in a golf camp over three days. The instructors kept the lessons fun while teaching the essentials of the game. Beginners and more advanced players came to the camp, which followed the teaching methods of the PGA Sports Academy. The academy keeps young golfers engaged by developing their skills in five areas:

  • Fitness and nutrition
  • Golf skills
  • Sportsmanship, rules and etiquette
  • Golf and “hybrid golf” experiences
  • Golf and physical assessments
Juniors also had the chance to play competitively in Old Palmâs recent Adult/Child Golf Tournament and Skills Challenge. Children (17 years of age and younger) could pair with any family member (18 years of age and older) and play a tournament of 3, 9 or 18 holes. Members invited to tour new models in Grand Estates

Palm Cup is an Old Palm major tournament

The Professional Golf Tours have their majors and so does Old Palm Golf Club. One of the most highly anticipated major tournaments is the Palm Cup, an annual member-member for ladies and gentlemen âWe hold 17 tournaments a year and the Palm Cup is among the most important,â says Bud Taylor, Director of Golf. âHaving an exceptionally robust tournament program enhances the Old Palm lifestyle and offers members numerous opportunities to mingle, build camaraderie and have fun.â The tournament was recently held over two days on Old Palmâs spectacular Raymond Floyd-designed golf course, and everyone in attendance had a terrific time. Old Palm makes golf fun for juniors

To keep juniors interested in golf, it has to be entertaining. To that end, Old Palm is offering several fun ways for juniors to enjoy the game when they’re out of school over the holidays On December 26, Old Palm will hold the annual Adult/Child Fishing Derby, followed by nine or 18 holes of golf. Juniors can try their luck fishing in the lakes bordering the practice holes in the Golf Studio, and then head out to Old Palmâs spectacular Raymond Floyd-designed golf course to play. Over the years, the event has been well attended because the fun of fishing carries over into an enjoyable afternoon of golf December 26 also marks the beginning of Old Palmâs three-day golf camp for juniors.
