Ladies Book Club begins a new chapter
November 26, 2013

The Ladies Book Club at Old Palm Golf Club started its new season of meetings recently with a discussion of the 2012 bestseller âThe Catâs Tableâ by Michael Ondaatje Set in the 1950s, the book follows the adventures of three boys who travel on an ocean liner from Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) to England. The boys have been relegated to dining at the âcatâs table,â where the shipâs most dubious characters gather for meals The tension builds as the boys recklessly and daringly roam the ship like freed mercury. They sneak into the first-class deck, raid the sun deck breakfast table, and slither through the stateroom transoms to then open the doors. The often forbidden adventures are spellbinding and make for a great discussion. While itâs not necessary to read the book before attending the Ladies Book Club, it is encouraged. The club meets…

Ladies enjoy Old Palm South Pacific-style
November 22, 2013

The most recent Ladies Night Out at Old Palm revolved around the South Pacific’s beautiful island paradise of Fiji, and the dozens of ladies in attendance had a spectacular time. The event was held at the Old Palm Pool adjacent to the Club, which was decorated in vibrant orange and turquoise. To add to the island flair, tiki torches lined the walkways. After enjoying Planter’s Punch cocktails and an authentic Fijian dinner, the ladies were treated to a demonstration of Pure Fiji products. The Spa at Old Palm now uses and carries the Pure Fiji line, which includes facial care lotions, anti-aging creams, body scrubs, luxurious soaps and nourishing oils. Old Palm’s spa technicians were also on hand to answer questions and explain the benefits of the various natural products. Later, a dance group in Fijian attire performed a traditional fire dance.

Cheers to Halloween!
November 04, 2013

Old Palm enthusiastically toasted Halloween during Pub Night the evening before the actual holiday, and the costumes were inspiring to say the least. Dozens of members showed up at the Club decked out in frightening masks, hair-raising wigs, red devil horns and more.

There were prom queens, pirates, cowboys, gangsters and even a zombie wearing a bizarre tied-dyed outfit and a gruesome grin. For good measure, Batman showed up in case the festivities got out of hand, or maybe he was just looking for Robin. It’s no secret that the members of Old Palm know how to have a great time, and our Pub Nights (every Wednesday, every week during the season) are among the most entertaining events. Stuffy just doesn’t have a place at Old Palm, the premier private Club community in the Palm Beaches.

Built by Hasey Construction, the model features a traditional split floor plan that sprawls over 6,495 square feet of living space. The layout boasts five bedrooms, six…
