Old Palm members gearing up for nearby Honda Classic

The Honda Classic has become a favorite tournament for Old Palm members and residents Charl Schwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen and Lee Westwood. After all, during the day they can compete just down the street at PGA National Resort & Spa and then spend evenings with their families at Old Palm. After a thorough  nationwide search, Jason Soule was chosen as Old Palm’s new Executive Chef. His professionalism in the kitchen, high level of creativity, and track record of mentoring and staff development was the winning combination that convinced Old Palm that he was the ideal choice With a degree from New Hampshire Technical College and further studies at the Culinary Institute of America, Soule is well educated and well skilled as a chef. Schwartzel wins second straight Alfred Dunhill Championship

Old Palm resident and 2011 Masters champion Charl Schwartzel successfully defended his Alfred Dunhill Championship title in a brilliant start to December. His convincing four-shot victory was the third time he has won the tournament, which is played in South Africa. “This tournament has been very good to me,” said Schwartzel, who hails from South Africa. “I’ve had lots of seconds here as well. Probably for the rest of my golfing career this will always be a special one.” The Alfred Dunhill Championship was Schwarzel’s ninth win on the European Tour, vaulting him back into the Top 20 in the world rankings. The tournament was played at Leopard Creek Golf Club near Kruger National Park, and Schwartzel was given a fitting championship trophy—a statue of a reclining leopard on a wooden base.

Old Palm hosts the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches

More than 200 chamber members and VIP guests attended the affair and enjoyed gourmet passed hors dâoeuvres and live music, compliments of the Dreyfoos School of the Arts jazz ensemble. Mark Nosacka, CEO of Good Samaritan Medical Center, was sworn in as the 2014 Chairman of the Board Another highlight of the evening was the silent auction, which featured merchandise generously donated by members of the chamber.
