Schwartzel wins second straight Alfred Dunhill Championship
December 04, 2013
Old Palm resident and 2011 Masters champion Charl Schwartzel successfully defended his Alfred Dunhill Championship title in a brilliant start to December. His convincing four-shot victory was the third time he has won the tournament, which is played in South Africa. “This tournament has been very good to me,” said Schwartzel, who hails from South Africa. “I’ve had lots of seconds here as well. Probably for the rest of my golfing career this will always be a special one.” The Alfred Dunhill Championship was Schwarzel’s ninth win on the European Tour, vaulting him back into the Top 20 in the world rankings. The tournament was played at Leopard Creek Golf Club near Kruger National Park, and Schwartzel was given a fitting championship trophy—a statue of a reclining leopard on a wooden base.

But these were no ordinary items. There were opportunities to be Mayor for the Day, Sheriff for the Day (which included a ride in a police boat and a visit to the fingerprint lab), numerous golf outings, resort vacations and tickets to the Grand Prix and…
